EOC Week 5- Sony Sleuths- Marketing

As we all know, Sony has been hacked. The attack on Sony invovled the theft of personal information like names, addresses, credit card information, etc. In order to stop this, they shut down their Playstation Network. Sony must be concerned with losing loyal customers, because people have been unable to play their online games for over a week now. "Sony attempted Wednesday to piece together who stole personal information for more than 100 million accounts on its online game network, new details were disclosed about it's investigation into one of the biggest data breaches in history." (poconorecord.com) Restoring this network, to keep customers happy, will have to happen soon, which they are already working on. "The company has implemented a variety of new security measures to provide greater protection of personal information. SNEI and it's third party experts have conducted extensive tests to verify the security strength of the Playstation Network and Qriocity services. With these measures in place, SCE and SNEI plan to start a phased rollout by region of the services shortly." (realotakugamer.com) I know it may seem as though people will hate Sony now and they will lose customers, but they really just hate the hackers. There are blogs and conversations going around the internet about sony and how it's not their fault. For example: "why are people directing all their hate about the PSN hack towards Sony and not the people who hacked PSN and took their details. Sony didn't choose to get hacked so why are they being blamed for it." (escapistmagazine.com) When all is said and done and Sony is back on there feet, they will be fine. Sony will do whatever it takes to keep their customers. They will find a way to make them feel safe again. They are professionals.
